Privacy policy
Front Step Sites builds, hosts, and maintains websites for small businesses. This page explains what we collect, why, and who else touches it. Short version: we collect what we need to build your site and bill you, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email, and profile picture with us, nothing else.
- Payment: Stripe processes your card. We see the card brand, last four digits, and billing ZIP, never the full number.
- Your business details: what you tell us in the questionnaire and in change requests, and any photos you send. This becomes your website.
- Domain registration details: the contact details the domain system requires (name, address, email, phone). They go to our registrar, NameSilo, with privacy protection turned on where the domain ending allows it.
- Messages from your website: when a visitor fills in the contact form on your site, we email the message to you.
- Basic technical logs: IP addresses and request times, used to keep the service secure and to stop spam.
How we use it
To build, host, and update your website, register and renew your domain, bill you, answer you, and keep the service secure. We don't sell your information and we don't use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
We use a small set of providers to run the service. Each gets only what it needs:
- Stripe for payments.
- Render to host the account portal and your website.
- NameSilo to register and renew your domain.
- IONOS to send and receive email.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- GitHub to store your website's files. That repository is publicly viewable, including drafts before you approve them, so don't send anything in a change request that you wouldn't put on your website.
- Software providers that help us draft and edit your site's text from the details you give us.
How long we keep it
While your account is open, and for 90 days after you cancel so you can change your mind. We keep billing records as long as tax law requires. Your registrar keeps domain records under its own rules.
Your choices
- See, correct, or delete your information: email hello@frontstepsites.com.
- Cancel any time from the Billing page in your account.
- Take your domain with you any time. It's registered in your name.
Children
Front Step Sites is for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email account holders before it takes effect.
